Media Compliance Supervisor

We're looking for someone to make sure student media complies with media law, license requirements and Students' Union policies.

The Union's newspaper, radio station and TV channel produce amazing content written, edited, filmed, recorded, produced and distributed by students. This great content has to comply with relevant laws, licenses and policies so we're after someone who'll work with student media volunteers to check their output won't get anyone into trouble. 

You'll be providing administrative support for different student media groups where possible, helping to ensure that they get sent to print on time among other important tasks.

It'll be your role to spot any articles of concern and refer them to our external advisor and/or Officers for additional guidance.

Job Title:  Media Compliance Supervisor      

Responsible to: Societies and Student Media Coordinator

Rate of pay: £10.25 per hour (made up of £9.15 basic rate, and £1.10 holiday rate).

Hours of work: 4-9 hours per week during term time, plus training. Must be available on Wednesdays and Thursdays with occasional evening and weekend work. Hours are flexible around fixed academic commitments.

Contract: Fixed term until the 31st May 2020

Expected start date: September 16th 2019

Applicants: University of Sussex, BSMS or IDS students. Applicants may not be current members of student media groups at Sussex, BSMS or IDS while in post in order to avoid potential conflict of interest.
