Race Equity Advocates (Social Sciences)
Are you passionate about race equity and interested in making a difference to the experience of students of colour at Sussex? Are you a student in the Social Sciences who enjoys connecting with people, listening to different perspectives and turning student experiences into meaningful action? We are looking for a Race Equity Advocate (REA) to work with students and staff in their School to help inform race equity work across their faculty.
This is a student-led role where you'll engage with your school community to gather meaningful insight into students’ experiences of race and racial equity. You’ll work with Students’ Union and University colleagues in a consultant-style capacity, using student feedback, data and dialogue to inform race equity action plans and support progress towards the University’s race equity goals.
You’ll help create opportunities for students to share their experiences and perspectives through events, activities and stalls, while fostering safe, facilitated spaces where students can build connections and discuss race equity issues. You’ll also work collaboratively with student groups, staff and colleagues across the University to raise awareness, build understanding and identify opportunities for positive change.

Rate of pay: £15.07 per hour (made up of £13.45 basic rate, and £1.62 holiday rate).
Hours of work: five hours per week contract (term time only)
