Events Manager

Closed 29/03/2019

Would you like to shape Freshers Week for incoming students? Are you passionate about finding creative solutions to objectives, and working on exciting, student-led projects?

The Students’ Union enables students to do amazing things: to improve their course, fight injustice, play the sport they love or just have fun. We’re looking for an Events Manager to lead the Union’s events team in an exciting period of change, and work with students to help them to deliver their own activities throughout the year. One day you may be delivering a multi-stage festival, and the next could see you bringing a group of therapy dogs to campus to promote wellbeing for students. No two days are the same, and your experiences in the events industry will help improve the services we offer to students at the University of Sussex.

We’re looking for someone to show off their project management skills and work alongside a large number of student groups and external contacts. The Students’ Union is committed to deliver a positive experience for its members, and this is your chance to help shape that.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who understands the needs of students and has experience in balancing multiple projects, and is excited about developing a diverse and dynamic programme of events.

There are many perks to working for us including training opportunities, going to networking events at other Universities across the country as well as a flexible and friendly work environment. Furthermore, our staff have access to volunteering leave, study leave and 7% employer pension contributions, among other great benefits.

We are also located on the beautiful South Downs National Park and near the vibrant Brighton and Hove city centre.

We welcome applications from everyone, including but not exclusive to; people with an ethnic minority or Chinese background, people with a disability, people with dependants, and people who identify as LGBTQ+. We conduct anonymous shortlisting and all of our interview panels have Unconscious Bias Training in order to support the above. We also consider flexible working for those with care commitments. If you have any suggestions as to how we could improve our language or application process please let us know.
