We’re looking for someone to join our friendly Volunteering and Communities team as Role Models Project Coordinator.
This year the project has worked in partnership with BACA and new schools across the city, to facilitate workshops with young people in the local community on personal, social, political and health issues.
Quotes from previous student volunteers:
“I really enjoyed facilitating workshops and building relationships with the pupils, I have learnt a lot about myself.”
“I had an amazing time facilitating the workshops as it was great seeing how the theory and our planning came together to do the workshops.”
Last year over 150 university students delivering the workshops also gained between 6 to 24.5 hours of training and a DBS check.
The project is run in conjunction with the University's School of Education and Social Work where students can take two Elective Modules - open to all single honours students in first and second year - allowing them to dedicate time to the project from within their studies and gain more experience and skills related to their academic pursuits.
We welcome applications from everyone, including but not exclusive to; people with an ethnic minority or Chinese background, people with a disability, people with dependants, and people who identify as LGBTQ+. We conduct anonymous shortlisting and all of our interview panels have Unconscious Bias Training in order to support the above. We also consider flexible working for those with care commitments. If you have any suggestions as to how we could improve our language or application process please let us know.
