Governance Administrator

Closed 11/09/2019

Calling all governance geeks and wonks; we're looking for a friendly and enthusiastic individual to join our Central Support Services as the Governance Administrator.

The role will be 15 hours a week and can be worked around university timetables and any other commitments. This role is perfect for those wishing to get a better understanding of governance, have a passion for engaging students in the decision-making of the Union and are looking to develop their administration skills and gain valuable experience for the future.

The Students’ Union is democratically-led with its direction determined by its members, the University’s students.  We are run by elected officers and representatives who are either recent graduates or undertaking the roles alongside their studies. They are elected every year by students to make sure that we’re doing what our members want. These officers and reps sit on a range of committees who make decisions on behalf of students.

We are looking for a Governance Administrator to provide support to these representatives offering administrative and operational support for key meetings such as the Executive and Union Council. The post-holder will also help the Students' Union engage more students in our governance to ensure that we are representing the needs and interests of our members and ensure that students have a strong voice on campus and beyond.

A key element of this will be the development of digital solutions to our governance processes, bringing the Union’s governance into the 21st Century.

We welcome applications from everyone, including but not exclusive to; postgraduates, people with an ethnic minority or Chinese background, people with a disability, people with dependants, and people who identify as LGBTQ+. We conduct anonymous shortlisting and all our interview panels have Unconscious Bias Training in order to support the above. We also offer flexible working for those with care commitments. If you have any suggestions as to how we could improve our language or application process please let us know.
