Our events team is looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to help run a diverse calendar of events and work alongside student groups, departments and officers.

This role has a focus on non-profit events, if you’re more interested in a role in commercial events run in Students’ Union venues, please see our other Events Assistant role:

Working with the Events Coordinator, you’ll be supporting students on running their own events and running our calendar of cultural and liberation events including History Months and the One World Sussex programme. Our calendar of student activities and events can include everything from fundraising events, gigs, banquet dinners and performances so each week is sure to be different from the last. Our ideal Events Assistant would be an enthusiastic, people-person who is happy to support on a range of events and make sure the calendar is well organised and executed.

This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in working in events, especially events with a cultural, liberation or charity focus. You’ll have a lot of scope to contribute your ideas and perspective whilst working on our diverse platform of student-focused events.

Our graduate placements provide support and training to help you gain experience and develop your skills.

Job Title:  Charity Events Assistant   

Responsible to: Events Coordinator

Responsible for: Events Crew, Events Supervisors

Salary: £18,421 full-time equivalent, per annum, pro rata

Contract: Fixed term until 28th May 2021

Hours of work: Up to full-time (36.5 hours per week),  but will likely include some evening and weekend work during term time

Applicants:University of Sussex or BSMS graduates (graduated in 2017, 2018 and 2019), and Sussex students requiring a work placement year, or Sussex Students’ Union staff. The Union looks to employ these students, graduates and SU staff in order to provide valuable skills and experience to them, increasing their employability and personal development
